Membership Benefits

Whether you are a seasoned landlord or just getting started, there is much to gain from belonging to NILA. Networking with other members and being a part of the voice for the rights of landlords are just some of the benefits of becoming a member.

NILA Manual

Every member receives a copy of the manual which contains, in part, a selection of usable forms, environmental information, landlord and tenants rights, third party NIPSCO information and forms, evictions and small claims court information plus much more! Ongoing information is made available for members to add periodically.

Tenant List

A reference tool for landlords. A list of members’ current and past tenants is provided to all member landlords who have provided the names of their current and past tenants to NILA.

Vendor List

A list of local vendors that provide discounts to NILA members.

Contractor List

A list of some of the local contractors that members have used.

Monthly Newsletter

NILA members get a monthly newsletter which contains contact information for the officers and chair members, the scheduled speaker information, the date and time of the next meeting, who will bring the next month’s dinner and a monthly tip that a member has found helpful in doing their landlord upkeep as well as relevant information.

Networking

NILA also provides a networking for landlord rental listings. You can list your property with them if you choose to. NILA also provides callers with other avenues of reference for finding rental housing.

Members also share information they have learned about regarding new laws, ordinances, codes, maintenance tips, legal avenues and background checks as well as the goings on in the community. The speakers stem from various contractors, law enforcement officials, appraisers, real estate broker/agents, banks, utility companies and the like.

Monthly Meetings with Speakers

NILA meets on the last Wednesday of every month at the Queen of All Saints (Queen of Angels Annex), 606 S. Woodland Avenue, Michigan City, IN 46360. Meetings begin at 6:30pm. If you are interested, supper is offered for a $1.00 donation and is served one-half hour before the start of the meeting – 6:00pm.

We welcome visitors and there is no membership requirement for the first visit.
